Jeff Coleman (verified owner) –
A lot easier to transport than a normal trolling motor and full size marine battery setup.
Daniel Brooks (verified owner) –
First install took about 15 minutes. Now I can get it on the kayak in just a few minutes.
Andrew Collins (verified owner) –
The whole system is just convenient. That’s probably the best way to describe it.
Tyler Simmons (verified owner) –
Thought such a small motor might struggle but it moves my kayak better than expected.
Justin Bell (verified owner) –
Really good balance between power and portability.
Adam Price (verified owner) –
I have a Hobie MirageDrive-style setup and the center adapter makes the whole thing look very clean.
Jake Robinson (verified owner) –
Good value. Motor feels solid and installation is simple.
Noah Campbell (verified owner) –
Weight, price and easy mounting were the three reasons I bought it. So far all three have been exactly what I wanted.
Austin Green (verified owner) –
Makes long fishing days way more enjoyable. I still paddle sometimes but now I don’t have to.
Cameron Scott (verified owner) –
Had a pairing issue with the remote. Support walked me through it and it was fixed in a couple minutes.
Jordan White (verified owner) –
Great for solo launching. I can carry everything from the truck without making five trips.
Connor Davis (verified owner) –
Was looking at a more expensive motor but honestly I don’t think I needed to spend the extra money.
Blake Mitchell (verified owner) –
Would love to see even more adapter choices later but the one I have fits well.
Logan Bake (verified owner) –
I mostly run slower speeds while fishing and I get plenty of runtime.
Ian Stewart (verified owner) –
Using it on an inflatable kayak and it works way better than I thought it would. Easy to remove when packing everything up.
Cody Nelson (verified owner) –
Support was surprisingly good. I had a compatibility question and actually got a useful answer instead of a generic reply.
Zach Thompson (verified owner) –
Forward and reverse work really well when getting close to the dock. Makes the kayak much easier to control.
Jeremy Clark (verified owner) –
Feels like it was actually designed around kayaks instead of just being a small trolling motor.
Ethan Roberts (verified owner) –
My wife and I share the motor between our kayaks. Being so light makes that really easy.
Ethan Roberts (verified owner) –
Three trips so far and no issues. I’ll update after I get more time on it.
Trevor Martin (verified owner) –
I didn’t want to drill a bunch of holes into my kayak. The adapter system made the install much easier.
Derek Hughes (verified owner) –
I run a lot of fishing gear and the motor still moves the kayak well. Definitely enough power for my setup.
Aaron Phillips (verified owner) –
Used it on a calm lake and also a slow river. Works well in both. I wouldn’t expect miracles in heavy current but for normal kayak use it’s great.
Sam Edwards (verified owner) –
I’m not very handy and still got it mounted without much trouble.
Patrick Young (verified owner) –
Shipping was quick to Ontario. Box arrived in good shape and everything was there.
Kyle Richardson (verified owner) –
The pedal opening adapter is what sold me. Much cleaner than trying to make my own mount.
Ben Cooper (verified owner) –
Battery lasts a long time when you’re not running full throttle all day. I normally stay around the middle speed settings.
Robert Jenkins (verified owner) –
Compared this with a couple other kayak motors and this one made the most sense for me because of the weight and adapter system.
Cole Anderson (verified owner) –
Bought it during the discount and feel like I got a really good deal.
Sean Murphy (verified owner) –
Very smooth at lower speeds. Great for trolling and moving around shoreline.
Luke Harrison (verified owner) –
I mainly bought this for longer fishing days. Being able to motor back after fishing for 6 hours is worth it by itself.
Greg Lawson (verified owner) –
Good product overall. Took me a few tries to pair the remote but customer service helped me get it sorted.
Paul Bennett (verified owner) –
Very easy to take on and off. That matters to me because I transport my kayak on a roof rack.
Nathan Hill (verified owner) –
The wrist remote is actually really convenient. I thought it was kind of a gimmick at first but now I use it constantly.
Steve Walker (verified owner) –
Used it with some wind and it still moved my kayak fine. Obviously wind and current make a difference but overall performance is good.
Josh Carter (verified owner) –
Very quiet motor. I can move from spot to spot without making a ton of noise.
Brian Foster (verified owner) –
Got it on the presale deal. For the price I’m very happy with it.
Matt Reynolds (verified owner) –
I fish alone most of the time so weight matters a lot to me. This is probably the easiest motor setup I’ve owned.
Eric Wilson (verified owner) –
Sent Hydrova a picture of my kayak before ordering because I wasn’t sure which adapter I needed. They replied the same day and pointed me in the right direction.
Jason Reed (verified owner) –
Motor is really light. Battery is obviously the heavier part but overall still much easier than my old setup.
Scott Peterson (verified owner) –
The adapter options are probably the best part. I have two different kayaks and I don’t need to buy two motors.
Alex Morgan (verified owner) –
I use mine on a SUP with the SUP adapter. Honestly surprised how well it works. Nice for cruising around without paddling the whole time.
Brandon Lee (verified owner) –
Not crazy fast but that’s not really what I bought it for. It pushes my fishing kayak nicely and I can cover way more water now.
Tom H. (verified owner) –
Fast shipping and everything came packed good. Got it installed the same afternoon.
Kevin Morris (verified owner) –
Works great on my Pelican Getaway 110 HDII. I use the rear adapter most of the time. Very clean setup and way less wiring than what I had before.
David Grant (verified owner) –
Bought this mainly because I didn’t want another heavy trolling motor setup. The YAK-1 is much easier to deal with. I can carry the motor, battery and fishing gear myself.
Ryan Parker (verified owner) –
Good motor. I use it on a Pelican Catch Mode 110. Plenty of power for what I need. Would like to see a little more detail in the install instructions but support answered me fast.
Chris M. (verified owner) –
Put it on my Hobie Mirage. Took me a little bit to figure out the adapter the first time but after that its super easy. Motor is light and I can remove everything before loading the kayak.
